Sneak peak at Android Honeycomb [Video]
We confirmed yesterday that Android Honeycomb was indeed Android 3.0. Now, just hours later Google themselves have officially confirmed this at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and have released further details and a sneak peak video of their latest version of the Android OS.

Honeycomb is officially Android 3.0
There have been varying opinions of late as to whether Android Honeycomb would in fact become Android version 2.4 or 3.0. Now Asus, the Taiwanese computer manufacturer, has put all our minds at ease and confirmed Honeycomb will officially be Android 3.0.

Toshiba joins Android tablet gold rush
Recently it would seem that electronic manufacturers worldwide are queuing up to announce plans to launch their own Android-powered tablet devices. Yesterday we wrote about Vizio’s new 8 inch tablet, now Toshiba plan to launch their own 10.1 inch tablet that will become available when Android Honeycomb is officially released.

Android surpasses Symbian to become Ireland’s second largest mobile OS
According to StatCounter GlobalStats, Android OS has surpassed SymbianOS to become Ireland’s second most popular mobile operating system. iOS, the operating system found on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, is still by far the most popular mobile OS in Ireland.

VLC media player coming to Android soon
According to tech blog GigaOM, the team behind the popular media player VLC will release a VLC Android app in “a matter of weeks”. This follows from the release of a dedicated VLC iPad app in September of this year, with iPhone support arriving in October.
