Since Google's +1 button initially launched in March of this year, Google has been hard at work improving its overall usefulness and relevance to Google product users. Now, Wired are reporting Google's overarching intent for the +1 button; +1 clicks will influence rank in Google Search results.

Twitter: Faster than earthquakes [Video]
Twitter has released a short promotional video [0:47] claiming that it's "faster than earthquakes". While the video is meant to be understood as a light-hearted quip, the claims made in it are generally true and do validate Twitter's potential role as an early warning system.

Why Twitter is turning increasingly towards t.co link shortening
Yesterday we reported how one could avoid Twitter's somewhat annoying t.co URL shortener by using lesser known URL services like j.mp, or by keeping the URL length to 20 characters or less. Unfortunately, this hack will not last forever as Twitter does plan to wrap all links, regardless of length, with its own t.co link service. Why? It's all to do with analytics.

Premier League footballer quits Twitter after attacking club’s transfer policy
Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique has quit Twitter after a recent public outburst attacking the club's transfer policy on the network. Jose's ill-judged rant has reportedly landed the Spaniard with a two-week fine, although it's unclear whether part of his reprimand required him to leave Twitter.

Twitter’s latest DM scam; How to protect yourself and followers
Another scam has become rampant on Twitter over the past few days, with a spat of direct messages being unlawfully sent via hi-jacked Twitter accounts. The majority of messages read "guaranteed. make $3,000 to $8,000 a month from home" or similar, and it's well advised that follow-through links within not be clicked.
