Tourists on board the Dana Pride whale and dolphin watching vessel were treated to this spectacular scene as an unusually large 2,000-strong surfacing dolphin superpod passed by.
The Dana Pride is operated by Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching who uploaded the video to YouTube on Thursday last. The company operates off the southern coast of California where the spectacle occurred.
Dolphins usually live and travel in pods of around 12 individuals, but have been known to temporally merge into superpods, as witnessed above, when food is plentiful.
At the time of writing the video had a little over 13,000 views.
