New Facebook messaging system rolling out
We've heard some reports in the last hour that the new Facebook messaging system has started rolling out to some users. We reported on the system in November of last year when it was first announced. Essentially it's a simple communication tool that integrates many different formats including email, chat, and SMS.

Apple delays The Daily launch by “weeks”
Apple and News Corporation have delayed the launch of The Daily, an iPad-only publication, that was reported to be unveiled later this month on January 19th. Now, it is believed that this launch date will be delayed, but only by “weeks, not months".

Google, Facebook, and Yahoo! commit to 24-hour IPv6 test flight
Google, Facebook, and Yahoo!, along with the Internet Society, have joined forces and announced a 24-hour test flight for the next generation of the internet, IPv6, that they will all take part in on June 8th, 2011.

German fallout with Google over analytics privacy concerns
Data protection authorities in Germany have ended year-long talks with Google over concerns that they have with the data that Google Analytics gathers on website visitors. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, German companies may face legal action if they are found to be using the free service from Google.

Social news curation site paper.li raises $2.1 million
Paper.li, a site that “organizes links shared on Twitter and Facebook into an easy to read newspaper-style format” has just raised $2.1 million in funding. SmallRivers, the Swiss company behind paper.li will receive capital from Highland Capital Partners, SoftBank Capitol, and Endeavour Vision.

Murdoch and Jobs will launch iPad newspaper later this month
Rubert Murdoch and Steve Jobs are expected to appear together on stage later this month to launch Murdoch’s new iPad-only publication known as The Daily. According to Forbes journalist Jeff Bercovici this launch date could be January 19th, 2011.

Fine Gael’s website hacked
The website of Irish political party Fine Gael has been hacked by a group calling themselves ‘Anonymous’. The attack took place yesterday evening, with the website still not operational.

UK government will appeal Apple’s decision to block charitable donations
Currently Apple does not allow in-app charitable donations on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Apple started blocking apps that process charitable donations through online payment service PayPal in October of last year - Nick Hurd, UK Civil Society Minister wants to change this.
