UK users can now rent and stream new release movies on YouTube
Back in May we reported that Google introduced YouTube movie rentals to users in the United States. Last month, YouTube expanded this service to users in Canada and has today done the same for those living in the UK.

Guinness record attempt for world's largest QR code
A small group of technology hobbyists based in Charlotte, North Carolina are expected to break the Guinness World Record for the largest permanent QR code. The group, known as Hackerspace Charlotte, have painted a 10,000 sq. ft. QR code on the roof of a local scrap metal recycling building.

Less than 2% of Android devices are tablets
In the latest platform versions report from Android Developers, Honeycomb, the tablet-only version of Android has scored disappointingly, accounting for only 1.8% of all Android devices. Compare this to Apple's 250 million iOS devices, substantially more than 1.8% of those are iPads.

Apple's 25 year-old concept finally realised in Siri 'intelligent assistant'
Among a slew of reports flooding from Apple's iPhone event this evening lies one of their most important announcements in recent years - Siri. Siri is an all-new intelligent voice-control feature in iOS5 and will be available on the forthcoming iPhone 4S. But Siri isn't strictly a new concept at Apple. Siri’s vision was originally devised almost 25 years ago by Apple and was known as Knowledge Navigator.

Microsoft patent estimates person's age using Kinect
A rather clever Microsoft patent made public last week proposes using devices like Microsoft's Kinect to judge a persons age. Based on the system's age predictions appropriate content can be served accordingly - a automated parental control system if you will.
