Premier League footballer quits Twitter after attacking club’s transfer policy
Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique has quit Twitter after a recent public outburst attacking the club's transfer policy on the network. Jose's ill-judged rant has reportedly landed the Spaniard with a two-week fine, although it's unclear whether part of his reprimand required him to leave Twitter.

Joining the two high-profile speakers already announced for October's Web Summit, Jawed Karim and Eric Ly, are two of Ireland's tech community leaders, Chris Horn and Liam Casey, and Michael Birch, the man who founded Bebo and subsequently sold to AOL for $595m in 2008.

Tesco to offer free Wi-Fi in stores
Tesco is planning to offer customers free Wi-Fi in stores across the UK, possibly the first such move by a supermarket chain operating in Britain. It's hoped that providing free internet access will help bolster domestic sales.

Apple to buy on-demand video giant Hulu?
Apple is reportedly considering making a bid for Hulu, the on-demand TV show and movie streaming service, according to Bloomberg. Bloomberg quote two people "who weren't authorized to speak publicly" that Apple are in early talks with Hulu, and may eventually make an offer for the video giant.

LinkedIn and YouTube founders to speak at October’s Dublin Web Summit
As promised, the organisers of the Dublin Web Summit have begun naming some of the confirmed speakers for this October's two day summit, starting with two founders from some of today's most influential internet companies. They are Eric Ly, co-founder of LinkedIn, and Jawed Karim, co-founder of YouTube.

Facebook ad prices increase by 74% as demand soars
The cost of advertising on Facebook is rising fast as more and more large brands allocate greater marketing resources to their online efforts. A report published today by TBG Digital, an independent marketing firm specialising in Facebook advertising campaigns, suggests that the average Facebook ad CPC (cost per click) rate increased by 74% in the past 12 months.

News International website hacked, claims Rupert Murdoch's body found in garden
A News International website has been hacked and an article published claiming that Rupert Murdoch's body has been found in his garden. The website new-times.co.uk, a News International property, shows a replica of The Sun website and an unfounded article titled "Media moguls body discovered".
