Point8, the Loc8 Code iPhone app developed under license, has received a welcome update in the past week. One new feature allows users to attach a Loc8 Code to an address book contact – very handy.
In the absence of any precise addressing or postal code system in Ireland, Loc8 Code launched in 2010 with a very particular problem to solve, providing special geo-codes accurate to within six metres anywhere on the island of Ireland.
Point8 allows users to search and display the location of a Loc8 Code and to generate a Loc8Code from their current position. This is especially useful as iPhone users can then receive directions from or to a Loc8 Code position using any installed third-party apps like Google Maps, TomTom, Navigon, Garmin StreetPilot, Navfree and Waze.
The latest release of Point8 also introduces address book integration. Users can attach a Loc8 Code to any contact and easily generate directions to this contact at a later date.
The app costs €1.59 to purchase, although a free light-version does exist also.
I haven’t used S-Voice, so I cannot know. I downloaded the new iOS and Siri sounds a bit subdued in it – almost like she has a cold. May be it is because they want Siri to sound differently on a beta version

I really like this app. Though the free one has restrictions, it’s still doing a pretty good job.
