Google and Samsung unveil first Android 4.0 smartphone – the Galaxy Nexus
Google and Samsung teamed-up early this morning in Hong Kong to unveil the first smartphone designed for Android 4.0 - the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich is the ninth release of Android and marks the third anniversary of the HTC Dream, the first ever Android phone.

Less than 2% of Android devices are tablets
In the latest platform versions report from Android Developers, Honeycomb, the tablet-only version of Android has scored disappointingly, accounting for only 1.8% of all Android devices. Compare this to Apple's 250 million iOS devices, substantially more than 1.8% of those are iPads.

Vodafone offer Android app purchases through your phone bill
Vodafone UK has become the first mobile operator in Europe to offer users the ability to make Android app purchases through their existing mobile bill. Vodafone are also expected to introduce a similar feature to Android users in Germany.

Google plans to "supercharge" Android with €8.73 billion Motorola acquisition
Google has today announced that they've entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Motorola Mobility for €8.73 billion ($12.5 billion). If approved, this would be Google's largest ever acquisition, four times that of the $3.1 billion paid for DoubleClick in March 2008.

Amazon launches Kindle Cloud Reader to bypass Apple's App Store restrictions
Amazon today, Wednesday, unveiled the Kindle Cloud Reader, an HTML5-based version of their Kindle book reader app that works on Chrome for Mac, Windows and Chrome OS, and on Safari for Mac, Windows and most notably the iPad.
