Indoor Street View for businesses expands to Canada, Ireland and the Netherlands
Google has today announced the expansion of its Business Photos program, allowing businesses to add a Street View style virtual tour of their premises on Google Maps and on their Google Places listing.

Wikipedia updates mobile apps, ditches Google Maps
Wikipedia released updates to both its Android and iOS apps earlier this week. In the process they decided, as others have, to ditch Google Maps in favour of OpenStreetMap.

Apple ditches Google Maps in favour of OpenStreetMap, just like Foursquare
Apple launched iPhoto for iPad yesterday, complete with the usual integrated mapping features. However, unlike its desktop counterpart, iPhoto for iOS uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, with Apple apparently deciding to ditch Google Maps on this product.

Foursquare goes open source, ditches Google Maps
Foursquare has ditched Google Maps in favour of MapBox using OpenStreetMap data, citing Google Maps pricing as a primary concern. Google Maps began charging some of its biggest API users, like foursquare, last October.

Facebook chooses Microsoft over Google to power new Timeline maps feature
Facebook has chosen Microsoft's Bing Maps over Google Maps to power new mapping features on its visually improved Timeline profile page. The new Timeline profile places greater emphasis on location-aware postings, with Facebook once again partnering with Microsoft rather than Google - arguably a greater competitor.

Search locations by voice in Google Maps
Google announced earlier today that users of its Chrome web browser can now use voice input to search locations in Google Maps. Earlier this year Google introduced voice search to google.com, similar to the same technology that has been available on Android devices for some time now.
