Apple to debut iPad 2 on March 2
Apple is expected to debut the iPad’s successor, dubbed the iPad 2, next week, Wednesday March 2, at an event in San Francisco according to All Things Digital. Although no official invites have been sent out yet, it’s rumoured that the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts will be the likely venue.

Apple App Store introduces long-awaited subscription service
Apple have today announced the introduction of a long-awaited in-app subscription service available to content-based apps in the App Store. With the new service Apple receives a 30% share of new app subscriptions, but interestingly, when a publisher brings an existing or new subscriber to the app, the publisher retains 100% of earnings.

RTÉ launch iPad specific RTÉ News Now app
RTÉ have today launched an iPad specific version of their popular RTÉ News Now application already available on Android and iOS devices. This app exists independent of the original iOS News Now app and is tailored specifically for the Apple iPad.

Both BBC iPlayer iPad and Android apps now live
The long anticipated BBC iPlayer iPad and Android apps have finally arrived earlier today. Response has so far been subdued, with most complaining that the apps don’t bring anything new to the table. Nevertheless, we checked out the iPad version and were quite impressed.

Mobile Ireland 2011 – Smartphone usage in Ireland [Infographic]
Mindshare Ireland have published an interesting infographic regarding smartphone usage in Ireland. The survey, conducted by Sponge It in November 2010, suggests that while over half of Irish consumers own a smartphone, many don’t use their device to its full potential.

BBC iPlayer for the iPad coming this Thursday, complete with HD
As speculated last month, Geoff Marshall, a BBC interactive operations engineer, has confirmed that the BBC iPlayer will get its very own iPad app - and better still, it’s arriving this Thursday, February 10th.

Murdoch and Jobs will launch iPad newspaper later this month
Rubert Murdoch and Steve Jobs are expected to appear together on stage later this month to launch Murdoch’s new iPad-only publication known as The Daily. According to Forbes journalist Jeff Bercovici this launch date could be January 19th, 2011.
