RTÉ Player app for iPhone and iPad arrives in time for Christmas
As promised by RTÉ's director of platform development Aisling McCabe at October's Dublin Web Summit, the RTÉ Player app for the iPhone and iPad has been released in time for Christmas. The universal iOS app made its way through Apple's App Store approval process last weekend, and was made available for free download as of this morning.

Record companies want to control what we access online, Irish Government obliges
Threatened by legal action from EMI Ireland, the Irish Government has agreed to publish an order next month, "plugging a gap" in Irish copyright law and effectively allowing record companies to restrict access to whole websites in Ireland as they please.

iTunes Match now available in Ireland, Germany, United Kingdom and others
A little over one month since launching initially in the United States, and Brazil a few days ago, iTunes Match is now available in a number of new countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and possibly unconfirmed others.

Miramax latest Netflix partner announced ahead of launch in the UK and Ireland
Miramax is the latest film studio to announce streaming agreements with on-demand movie service Netflix ahead of their launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland early next year. Since October, Netflix has announced content agreements with MGM and Lionsgate in the two countries.

Netflix and MGM forge content deal ahead of launch in UK and Ireland
Netflix, the subscription-based on-demand streaming media service, has forged a deal with motion picture giant MGM to stream first-run feature films in the UK and Ireland. Netflix are seemingly readying their service for an expected launch in both countries in early 2012.
