- iPad falls from space, and survives Ever since Apple introduced the original iPad in January 2010, the burning question on all of our minds was whether it could survive a fall from space (right?) - in this case 100,000 feet. The answer is yes, apparently.
- International Space Station to broadcast live HD video stream of Earth early next year Canadian company UrtheCast will begin streaming live HD imagery of earth from the International Space Station (ISS) in Spring 2012. Two cameras will be mounted to the outside of the ISS where the video will be down-linked and broadcast on the Internet for the world to see.

- NASA captures image of this morning’s massive solar flare NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a semi-autonomous spacecraft that almost continuously observes the Sun, has captured a high definition image of a massive solar flare that occurred this morning. Solar flares occur when stored magnetic energy suddenly erupts from the outermost layer of the Sun’s atmosphere, the corona.
- Image of the International Space Station as it orbits sky over Ireland With clear skies forecast for this week across much of Ireland an excellent opportunity presents itself for amateur astronomers to catch a glimpse of the International Space Station as it orbits earth and passes over Ireland. One such sighting opportunity occurred at 19:53 this evening, and although slightly unprepared, I managed to capture this light trail as the space station hurtled past.
- New HYLAS 1 satellite to bring broadband to rural Ireland A new satellite, known as HYLAS 1, is due to launch later this evening and promises to bring broadband to many rural locations in Ireland for the first time. HYLAS 1 is the first dedicated satellite to deliver high speed, two-way data services across Europe.
