Timelapse video captures northern lights on transatlantic flight
A passenger on board a transatlantic flight from San Francisco to Paris has captured a remarkable timelapse video of the northern lights, or the aurora borealis. During his eleven hour flight he captured 2,459 images, roughly one every two miles, using a Canon 5D Mark II and a tripod, and stitched them together afterward to produce this masterpiece.

Google acquires Irish digital video technology company Green Parrot Pictures
Google has acquired Irish digital video technology company Green Parrot Pictures with the intention of using their innovations to improve the quality of videos uploaded to YouTube. Green Parrot’s technology has been employed post-production on several blockbuster movies including The Lord of the Rings and Spider-Man.

As speculated last month, Geoff Marshall, a BBC interactive operations engineer, has confirmed that the BBC iPlayer will get its very own iPad app - and better still, it’s arriving this Thursday, February 10th.

Sneak peak at Android Honeycomb [Video]
We confirmed yesterday that Android Honeycomb was indeed Android 3.0. Now, just hours later Google themselves have officially confirmed this at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and have released further details and a sneak peak video of their latest version of the Android OS.

Toshiba's 56-inch 3D TV that doesn't require glasses [Video]
One of many companies likely to debut 3D devices at CES 2011 in Las Vegas, Toshiba have exhibited a 56-inch HD 3D TV that doesn't require glasses to be worn by the viewer. The 3D TV is still only a prototype but is expected to arrive on sale towards the end of this year.

VLC media player coming to Android soon
According to tech blog GigaOM, the team behind the popular media player VLC will release a VLC Android app in “a matter of weeks”. This follows from the release of a dedicated VLC iPad app in September of this year, with iPhone support arriving in October.
