As Apple releases its latest iPhone upgrade each autumn, previous iPhone models have never looked so desirable – at least when considering price.
Apple released its latest iPhone upgrade, the iPhone 5, over the weekend, selling five million within 72 hours and breaking its previous three-day sales record set by the iPhone 4S by one million units. Early last week, the company had already pre-sold over two million iPhone 5 devices.
To help put this into perspective, the original iPhone sold 700,000 units in its initial three days back in 2007. The following year, the iPhone 3G sold one million units in its opening weekend. In 2009, the iPhone 3GS again sold one million units. In 2010, the iPhone 4 sold 1.7 million devices in opening weekend sales.
None can deny the incessant demand and hype that builds each autumn as Apple releases the latest iPhone upgrade. With the release of each new model, as we’ve seen with the iPhone 5 over the weekend, older iPhone models, like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, instantly become more desirable. This is not spurred on by aesthetics or features, but because the device becomes significantly cheaper overnight.
The iPhone 4S 16GB, for example, is available unlocked on eBay as new, used or refurbished at great prices. Similarly, the iPad 3, or the new iPad, is also available.
If you’re looking to join the world of Apple, now is a great time to start.
